Wild Goose Jack EP upcoming release show

We’re finally releasing our, Wild Goose Jack, EP. This album is our follow-up to 2015’s On The Banks of The Detroit River. For this album we decided to record at three different studies to get a few different vibes among the tracks. Mark Plancke produced two songs at Sharktank Studios, Brett Humber of Sound Foundry (who produced our entire On The Banks record) returns to produce a track, and Cody Weldon of Polaris Studios also produced two tracks. All of these studios are located in Essex County and all gave different and unique treatments to our songs. The five album tracks were sent to Toronto’s Lacquer Channel to be mastered by Noah Mintz who was able to fit all five songs into a cohesive whole.

On Friday, December 1st we will be releasing our new record coinciding with an album release concert at The Windsor Beer Exchange (sponsored by Phog Lounge.) The cover is $7. We will be performing two sets. Music starts at 11pm. At midnight we will play our full new EP from front to back.

New single ‘The West End’

We recorded this track last November 2016 at Polaris Studio in Windsor. Cody Weldon was the recording engineer and mixed the track.

Josh Olsen wrote an article for The Windsor Independent focusing on the album release show http://www.windsorindependent.com/music/james-ol-releasing-solo-album-bus-tbx/.
Tom Morrison wrote an article for OurWindsor http://www.ourwindsor.ca/whatson-story/6958499-james-o-l-aims-to-break-the-mold-with-new-electronic-punk-album/ which focused on the musical influences behind the album.

All in all it was really fun to put together this album. I had dreamed of making this type of music for years and was happy to get a grant from the city to help out with some of the financial costs associated with the writing process.

As for other JOLATV news. The Villains have recorded two new songs in November at Polaris Studios in Windsor, ON. We had an awesome experience at the studio and got a few really good takes. We will release the songs once they are done getting mixed and continue recording new songs for our upcoming album, Wild Goose Jack. Stay tuned friends.

New music video and track “Dumpsters”

We’re releasing a new song called Dumpsters. The song is, as Steve put it, a “cautionary tale for young bands.” We recorded the track in March at Sound Foundry Studios in Kingsville with Producer Brett Humber who recorded our last full-length On The Banks of The Detroit River.

We recorded the song live off the floor and chose the fourth and last take. We played it faster than planned and liked the result. This is the first studio recording Bryan has played bass on and he brings the heat. The single is available to buy at our bandcamp page.

We filmed and edited the music video ourselves featuring various street art in downtown Windsor. Hope you enjoy.

We’re entering the studio in June to record our next single called The West End.
We think you’ll be very pleased.
Stay tuned,
James & TV

New Single from New Album, Wild Goose Jack

We are releasing the first single of a series of singles that will eventually be a record called, Wild Goose Jack. This song is called ‘Back Then’. You can download it here ‘Back Then’‘. It is an old song written back for The Invisible Album but the lyrics were finished up last year and The Villains added some spunk to the track. It was recorded at SharkTank Productions Studio last year and the vocals added last month. The track was produced by Mark Plancke and we think he did a fantastic job. Windsor/Essex County bands should get familiar with him. We will be releasing our new album one song at a time as we think this makes more sense in this new internet world we now live in. Stay tuned for the next single….
